In stock
A Total Protein (TP) reagent kit for veterinary use is an in-vitro diagnostic tool used to quantitatively measure the concentration of proteins (primarily albumin and globulins) in animal serum or plasma. It is a critical component of routine veterinary blood panels used to evaluate hydration, nutrition, and organ function.

Most standard veterinary total protein kits operate on the Biuret method. This chemical reaction involves the binding of cupric ions (Cu²⁺) in the reagent to the peptide bonds of proteins in an alkaline (basic) environment. This reaction yields a distinct violet-blue colored complex. The intensity of this color, which is measured photometrically at a wavelength between 540 nm and 550 nm, is directly proportional to the total protein concentration in the animal's sample.

- Sample Versatility: Optimized for use with serum or plasma samples collected from a wide range of animals.
- Rapid Turnaround: Liquid-ready reagents are typically formulated for fast testing, yielding results in as little as 5 to 10 minutes.
- High Linearity & Accuracy: They provide highly quantitative measurements, generally functioning well across standard clinical detection ranges (e.g., 1 - 10 g/dL)
